California famous for areas such as Silicon Valley and Orange Valley, is perhaps the most well known in the sporting world because of basketball. Home to two NBA giants the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers, basketball has cemented itself as a significant cultural and social aspect of the west coast state, influencing thousands of kids to join local leagues and try out for high school teams to try and become the next basketball icon. For the state, this has enticed them to build a multitude of courts and facilities across the state to accommodate the high demand for playing areas, with many parks holding multiple courts for the easiest sport to just pick up and find somewhere to play.
The consistent usage of the courts requires them to have maintenance, and a massive part of that is the resurfacing of the courts. Overtime, the courts will be prone to cracks and fissures due to consistent use and environmental factors, including UV rays. These factors can lead to uneven playing areas that not only can harm the players but also deter them from playing there further. The right surface helps with the ball bounce and traction, giving players the opportunity to be as competitive as they can be, but the wrong surface that exists without resurfacing is nothing but a hazard.
Financially, the resurfacing of a basketball court can prolong the life of the facility, and can prevent more extensive damage that would require more costly repairs or even a complete replacement. By addressing these minor issues early, facility owners can save money in the long-term and make sure that the courts remain a viable place for the community and recreational or competitive play.
For all the reasons listed, the City of Visalia, California is seeking bids from qualified contractors for the resurfacing of basketball courts at Village Park. If interested in this opportunity to improve their community, click here to learn more. The bid closes October 10, 2024 at 2:00 PM PDT.
