Catering Services

Good food heals the heart. This saying has been said for generations, and despite where you are in the world, it remains true. A hearty meal after a cold outing feels better than sitting by a fireplace, just as a cold ice cream on a summer day is the very definition of refreshing. Ignoring weather extremities, food will be there for you in your darkest hours to give you that little bit of comfort when you need it most. Or, it will be there to celebrate your biggest accomplishments, surrounding by friends and loved ones. It is obvious to say we all need to eat, but it is rare that we put as much thought into food and the emotions associated with it.

Food associated with extreme events is not usually the norm, but that does not mean they are not important. Quite the opposite, actually. So often we limit the food we eat, often in attempts to lose weight, but on the other hand food is also used as a reward for following that diet. Sweet treats, cheat days, or harmless snacks are present in daily lives reminding us of the simple pleasures food gives us, and if following a strict diet means voiding yourself of those simple pleasures, more power to you, but food is fuel, and good food can accomplish both goals of satisfaction and health if done right.

Most people say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but as you get older you realize the importance lunch has. Breakfast is necessary for giving you fuel to start and drive to work, but lunch gives you the energy to carry on while also giving your body time to relax and decompress. For more physical jobs such as corrections officers, this refueling period is all the more important. Lunch for many people is limited to what they had in the fridge the day before or going out and buying fast food, both not really the most nutritious or balanced of meals, which can affect job performance and in correction officers' cases, can be dangerous. Food is fuel, and it is important that they get the fuel they need to keep inmates and themselves safe.

However, a group that may need nutritious food more than correction officers is the officers in training. Training for such a task can be difficult and taxing, and with a limited salary it can be difficult to spent money going out. That is why the State of Illinois is procuring daily lunch catering services for its Training Academy in Morris, Illinois. These services will provide quality food to trainees that give them the fuel to perform at their very best and help them save some money as well, helping them become the best officers they can be.
