College is for Students, Not Pests

College for many is the highlight of their lives. Classes can be hard, but any stress built up can be easily dealt with, especially considering how much freedom they have. Kids are able to drink and eat whenever they please and, if finances permit, wherever they please. This can lead to a build up of trash from fast food restaurants, failed cooking attempts, and snacks. As we all know, college kids are among the dirtiest of all humanity, and with this mess come the threat of pests. Attracted to the pungent aroma of garbage and waste, many small critters and animals see a college campus as a gold mine.

To protect against the unwanted guests, pest control services are needed. Guilford Technical Community College (GTCC) in North Carolina is seeking contractors to provide pest control services for the interior and exterior across all campus buildings. A relatively older campus, GTCC opened in 1958 and with renovations, it presents itself as a clean and modern place to pursue essential life skills. To accomplish this, there is no room for distractions and disturbances, especially from pests. The older buildings can represent a unique challenge to pest control, with potential gaps and cracks that may have opened up over the years from use now being home to smaller critters. Newer buildings can also house pests through structural flaws or simply from trash accumulation. Regardless of the reason, pests will be drawn to a college campus, and it is important that these animals are not posing a threat to the campus community.

Rodents, insects, and other animals can spread diseases through droppings and bites, potentially spreading diseases that hinder their ability to attend class. Pest control services can address these issues directly, safeguarding students and faculty alike and reducing the risk of health-related problems to create a safer living and learning environment. Being pest-free also contributes to the overall reputation and appeal of an institution. Although not the entire reason people choose their educational futures, cleanliness is important and can sway parents and kids alike. After all, no one wants to learn in a place where their neighbor is a cockroach or a rat. Poor maintenance of pests can derail potential students from committing to the college, leading to a poor college image and hurting potential profits.
