New Athletic and Community Center

People like being around other people. Yes, even the introverts. Loneliness and solitude are not the same thing, but having the options of being surrounded by people and not make the difference between feeling alone and being alone. Humanity is built on connections, and through those connections people become happier. It is just a manner of finding those connections that people are so afraid of. Going out and exploring is daunting, but can be so incredibly rewarding. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to find those likeminded people. Apartment complexes are great, if you do find neighbors and friends you get along with, but if not it can make that living situation just a little more uncomfortable. Neighborhoods are the same way, which is perhaps part of the reason we see less kids playing outside.

A community space dedicated towards togetherness is an easy solution for these issues. Sometimes doubling as an athletic center, these areas are ready to serve the community in any way. They keep the area more active simply by offering an option for energetic people to come and workout, swim, or play one of the many sports that is on hand. If you seek something more calm, many community centers are also cultural hubs where eager people can pick up amazing skills like pottery, or learn games like mahjong, or even take a salsa class, all taught by caring volunteers and professionals that love to share their own skills and experiences.

Learning new skills or having a nearby physical outlet are great, but community centers offer a host of benefits that may not be as tangible as a freshly glazed mug. Some of those benefits include a stronger bond between family. Familial bonds are strengthened the more time you spend together, and that is doubly true if the time you spend is full of fun and growth. Besides, kids are impressionable. If they see their parents engaging in an active lifestyle or spending time dedicated to learning something new, they are also more likely to follow in those footsteps. On the topic of children, community centers offer a haven away from the dangerous activities of the streets. Community centers keep kids occupied and busy in captivating ways, reducing the likelihood of turning to crime or drugs. This in turn keeps the overall community safe as well, as it lowers crime rates and the allure of illicit activities.
