Palm Coast Parkway Extension

Parkways in suburb and urban areas offer a range of benefits that enhance both transportation and community quality of life. Some key improvements are the dedicated routes for vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians that reduce congestion no local roads, helping lessen travel time and making overall traffic smoother and more efficient. Similarly, parkways can link different areas of the community, enhancing social interaction between both kids and adults and making it easier to visit friends. Parkways also offer the unique opportunity to improve the green space in a community. Many parkways are designed with landscaping and greenery in mind, giving the area shade, habitats for wildlife, improving air quality, and promoting environmental sustainability.

The City of Palm Coast, Florida is seeking bids from qualified contractors for the construction of the extension of Matanzas Woods Parkway as a multilane roadway from west of US 1 to west of the existing Florida East Coast (FEC) railroad including abridge spanning the railroad. The project is approximately one mile in length. These improvements can go a long way in facilitating transportation for Palm Coast residents, and some aspects of the job can help with urban heat and improving green areas that may encourage residents to participate in more outdoor activities and healthier lifestyles. If not, the improvements will certainly benefit daily commuters and can help alleviate congestion on local roads, minimizing car accidents and overall just making travel a little faster. This can especially help Pam Coast's beach economy, helping more people get to and from the beach while reducing the traffic caused by beach trips.

The scope of work will include roadway construction for a multilane roadway, sidewalk construction, landscaping, signing and pavement markings, and more. The full body of work can be found here. If interested in this opportunity, you have until the bid closes on October 18, 2024 at 4:00 PM EDT to respond. g
