Teen Drivers Education and Outreach Program Services

Few things in life are more stressful than teaching your teen how to drive. Getting teens to listen to anything is difficult, but the added strain of driving makes this life lesson even more strenuous. Learning how to cut the wheel, when to ease up on the gas, and teaching them to not slam on the break to stop is infuriating, and many parents would not be blamed for not having the patience to teach driving. What makes matters worse is that they can be fully prepared for the test, but nothing can prepare drivers for the real road and how reckless some people can be.

Although that is the harsh reality, it is important that teens are exposed to driving and are comfortable behind the wheel, similar to how birds get thrown off the nest to be able to learn how to fly. Some parents may not have the time, but fortunately many areas have programs that are designed to help teens learn the do's and don'ts behind the wheel. One such area is the Houston-Galveston area in Texas, who are seeking qualified contractors to partner with its Youth Transportation Safety (YTS) program for Teen Drivers Education. The areas of outreach include recruiting schools into Youth Traffic Safety Peer-to -Peer Programming, implementation of Youth Traffic Safety Peer-to-Peer Programming, and Youth Transportation Safety Education. This program helps teens learn driving safety in a peer setting, so they will not be alone in learning. Part of what makes learning to drive so stressful is the 1-on-1 aspect, and with these programs, teens can be more comfortable receiving instruction and can even implement a little competition, for an example who can reverse park into some cones with the most accuracy or parallel park with the least amount of tries.

Learning how to drive does not need to be as stressful or as harrowing as it was being taught by parents. Programs exist that can make learning how to drive fun and easy, and knowing that you are not alone in learning can make a significant difference in your approach to learning.
